Punta Suarez is located west of the Spanish island. The route of the trail is about 1670 meters. The approximate journey time is 2 hours.
Spanish is known as one of the oldest islands, estimated age of 3.3 million years. Much of the island is covered by basaltic lava rocks.
Albatross (Diomedea irrorata) is endemic to the Spanish island, but has also been reported in the Isla de la Plata (Machalilla National Park). Spanish albatrosses are present from April to November or December.
Spanish has a high percentage of endemism because it is isolated from other islands, this is because the species on this island have no gene flow with species from other islands. Marine iguanas, present a turquoise with red in the mating season. A variety of mockingbirds, lava lizards, Darwin's finches are considered endemic to this island.
The mockingbirds of Spanish is the largest of the species present on the islands and developed carnivorous behavior. They feed on eggs of seabirds, sea lion placenta and newborn hatchlings. Lava lizards are the largest of the 7 endemic species of Galapagos.
In 1970 an eradication program began goats, the same as were entirely in 1978. A major attraction is the blower set on a cliff, in this site the water rises between 20 to 25 meters, depending on wave intensity.
Driving directions to visitors:
Do not get too close to the cliffs to avoid some kind of fall.
Do not leave the trail in the nesting area of marine iguanas. Because it can alter these fragile ecosystems.
