New Flamingo Itinerary B2 - 5 Days (Friday - Tuesday)

ITINERARY B2 - 5 Days (Friday - Tuesday)

Friday: Baltra (AM) / Bachas Beach (PM)

This morning our Guide will be waiting for you at 10:00 am at Baltra Airport in order to welcome you and take to the yacht that will be anchored nearby the dock. On your arrival you must pay USD 100 for entry to Galapagos National Park.

After lunch we will visit Bachas Beach. It is an amazing place where their crystalline waters will invite us to swim or to relax in the sun. It is the most important beach for the animation of the marine turtles, flamingos, patillos, teros real and migratory birds.

Meals included: Lunch – Dinner

Saturday: Sullivan Bay (AM) / Bartolomé (PM)

In this day we will visit Sullivan Bay, it is located on the east coast of Santiago Island. The view has a particular lava flow solidified into a mostly ropey appearance, which is locally known as Pahoehoe Lava. Also, we will see lava bubbles, where volcanic gases in the flow escaped. Although the flow is recent soil seemingly absent, already pioneer plants like Mollugo established themselves among the lava rocks. In this spot Sally Lightfoot crabs and marine iguanas abound, which adapted a black color and are well camouflaged but when crabs reach adulthood, they become bright - red and easily seen among the black lava shores.

After lunch we will visit Bartolome, it is a volcanic islet just off the east coast of Santiago Island. It is one of the "younger" islands in the archipelago and offers some of the most beautiful landscapes. The island consists of an extinct volcano and a variety of red, orange, green, and glistening black volcanic formations. In this place you may swim and snorkel around Pinnacle Rock; the underwater world there is really impressive. You can snorkel with penguins, marine turtles, white-tipped reef sharks, and other tropical fish. The bay is also an excellent place to go swimming.

Meals included: Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner

Sunday: Espumilla Beach - Buccaneers Cove (AM)  / Puerto Egas (PM)

In this morning we will visit Espumilla Beach, it is located at the north end of Puerto Egas. A wet landing on the large coffee-colored sand beach. We take a short walk through a mangrove forest normally inhabited by the Common Stilt. Sea Turtles visit these place to nest. Beyond the mangroves is a brackish lagoon where flocks of Pink Flamingos and White Cheeked Pintails can be seen as well as a variety of Galapagos Finches or a Vermilion Fly Catcher.

Our second visit will be Buccaneers Cove, this place served as a safe haven for pirates, sailors and whalers during the 18th and 19th century. Anchoring in the protected bay they were able to make much needed repairs to their ships while other men went a shore to stock up on salt, tortoises, fresh water and firewood. The cove is very scenic with steep cliffs made of tuff formations and the dark reddish-purple sand beach. This dramatic landscape is made all the more impressive by the hundreds of seabirds perched atop the cliffs. Two of the more recognizable rock formations are known as the "monk" and "elephant rock".

In the afternoon we will visit Puerto Egas, it is located to the northwest of the Santiago Island. It is one of the few places in Galápagos where “Wolves of double hair” can be appreciated. We began with a slight long walk throughout the beach. In this place we have the opportunity to view some of the Galapagos Island's best tide pools as well as sponges, snails, hermit crabs, barnacles and fish including the endemic four-eyed blenny. The walk also presents visitors with a variety of shore birds, marine iguanas, sally light foot crabs and sea lions.

Meals included: Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner

Monday: Rabida (AM) / Sombrero Chino (PM)

In this day we will visit Rabida Island, also called Jervis Island. In this place we have the opportunity to see a lot of species of birds, like nine varieties of pinzones, hawks of Galápagos and brown pelicans. The footpath begins throughout the red sand beach and continues towards the top of a hill where you will be able to appreciate the landscape of around. Other species we will see are Ducks of white cheeks, marine lions, snorkeling, red beaches, salt water lagoon, Palo Santo trees.

In the afternoon we will visit Sombrero Chino. It is a small island that seems a Chinese hat. Located just in the Southeastern of Santiago. This place is fantastic to snorkel, you will be able to see penguins, hawks of Galápagos, marine iguanas and a lot of variety of fishes. There is a volcano in cone form that is appraised better from the north, where also you will find a great community of marine sealions.

Meals included: Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner

Tuesday: Charles Darwin Research Station - Baltra Airport (AM)

This day we will visit the Charles Darwin Research Station that is located in the town of Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island, a ten minute walk from the Center.

It is part of the Charles Darwin Foundation, an international non-profit organization dedicated to scientific research in the Galapagos Islands since 1959. This place conducts and facilitates research in the Galapagos Islands and the Galapagos Marine Resources Reserve of Ecuador. You'll learn first hand of the conservation and research efforts in the Galapagos Islands. We take a little walk when we will see the tortoise hatchlings and breeding programs which are saving several races of tortoises from extinction. This could be the opportunity to see the giant Galapagos tortoises.

Meals included: Breakfast
